Re: Pride Society ‘discriminated against,’ says president, April 3

As a Catholic, and the mother of a gay son, I am appalled, horrified and angry at the Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church for refusing to rent their community centre to the White Rock Pride Society for their fundraiser event.

This is, in my opinion, a severe discrimination against other human beings.

Were we not taught to love, respect and accept one another, regardless of one’s gender and/or beliefs? Has the Catholic church lost these?

At Five Corners, close to the church, is a crosswalk in the rainbow colours of the Pride Society. In my opinion, it is a sign of love and acceptance in White Rock’s community.

I was also a member of PFLAG Vancouver.

The church needs to change its politics regarding our gay community. Otherwise they might lose more of their members.
