It appears that the city of White Rock will no longer accept FOIs (Freedom of Information requests) free and will initiate a $10 charge for each one.
I have never submitted an FOI but I think it behooves our city to accept them. However, if some people do, indeed, abuse the privilege, it would seem to me that a compromise would solve the situation.
A solution could be to allow each citizen to submit the first two requests for free, and any subsequent request have to pay the $10 fee. If Mayor Knight does not accept this compromise, it does not bode well for democracy in our city.
