Global warming must be addressed by the city of White Rock.

Why is the city continuing to make green spaces (or brown spaces), instead of making parks?

The use of fossil fuels by the city to maintain these ‘greens’ is adding to global warming.

I have not mowed my yard in 21 years, and it is a peaceful oasis, not ruled by brambles and other noxious weeds.

I spend about a half hour each day attending to my yard during the growing season.

I think it is time to add an old idea to White Rock – goats.

They would be a tourist attraction, their milk could be used as a revenue generator, and they produce lovely fertilizer. The main costs would be the purchase of the goats and veterinary care.

I would hope we could find people who would volunteer to tend the goats, but I’m sure 24-hour care could somehow be initiated. At night, I’m sure some citizens would allow them into their yards (if necessary). With these ‘volunteers,’ extra eyes would be in White Rock, helping the police, by-law, and the fire department.

People who did not want the roaming goats in their yards would have to build fences around their property.

Yes, it is an “out there” idea, but someone must come up with a solution that will do something productive against global warming, while reducing city taxes.

I would hope that the goats would only be fostered by the citizens, and not used for any other negative purpose.
