As a cancer survivor and someone with close family members who underwent treatment for cancer over weeks and months, I can tell you how difficult it is not to have a treatment centre close to home. While I am grateful for the care that I and my family members received, I wish there had been a treatment centre in our community.

That’s why I was so pleased to learn that a new hospital is being built in Cloverdale with a cancer centre. I cannot overstate how important it is to have access to treatment in our city.

In the paper recently, I read that Kevin Falcon wants to move the hospital out of Cloverdale. I believe this is a mistake and that all politicians should put aside their differences and work to get the hospital built as soon as possible.

We need this hospital and I’m glad it is being built.
