Doggone it! It’s getting to be that time of year again.

My two grandsons (Paw Patrol addicts, both) as well as myself have enjoyed having you, and your owners, walking our promenade over the winter months. But, alas, those ice-cream lineups are starting to get longer, and the flowers are again sprouting from their winter’s rest.

Yes, spring is upon us and the crowds are back once again along our beach-front.

I personally would like to thank those 90-plus per cent of your good owners who dutifully picked up after you, kept a not-so-long leash on you, and also prevented you from venturing out onto our pier.

It has always been a bit of a compromise in our small city, and along our beach-front, as whether to allow you and your four legs and wagging tails to stroll our promenade, with very good arguments made on both sides.

I personally enjoy the energy, along with the companionship, and small-town feel that your presence brings to our “backyard” over the those cold winter months.

So, do work on your owners over the spring and summer months to follow those few simple rules that are set out for you. Meanwhile I, along with a couple of young boys, will be eagerly awaiting your return in the fall.
