LETTERS: Is there or is there not a tsunami risk in Semiahmoo Bay?

We found it interesting that during the public forum of the proposed biofuel plant on Semiahmoo First Nation land the question was asked about mitigation in the event of a possible tsunami.

The chief explained that there can’t be a tsunami because the area is protected by the outer San Juan and Gulf Islands.

Why, then, did the SFN receive federal funds to install a tsunami warning system? We hear it tested once a month. Why?
