I want to add my voice to the movement to remove Doug McCallum from his position as mayor of Surrey.

It’s bad enough that he wants to use money set aside for youth programs for a new Surrey Police Force (to replace the RCMP), but does Surrey really need a canal?

Last time I checked, Surreyites have easy access to the mighty Fraser River, the Nicomekl River, the Serpentine River and the vast Pacific Ocean, in addition to several small lakes and ponds.

Why would we need to waste money on building a canal in place of an under-utilized road?

Besides, McCallum’s canal would be nothing but a dry gulch during our annual summer droughts.
