I read the above-noted article with some amusement. No disrespect intended for Const. Chantal Sears but anyone who drives in the Semiahmoo Peninsula knows that the new normal is 20 km/h – rapidly going to 30 km/h – over the posted maximum speed limits.

As for this occurring around elementary schools, well it’s my observation that people just aren’t aware of or they simply don’t care where they’re driving these days.

I’m not going to try to analyze ‘why’ this is occurring, but let’s just say that if there are no consistent enforcement consequences for such wanton and dangerous rule-breaking; you get what you get.

So, good luck with occasional speed-traps in school zones – you’re up against a huge driving population who’ve forgotten about or simply haven’t learned why speed limits are what they are.
