LETTERS: Opt-out organ donation model too risky

I don’t think I agree with your Feb. 4 editorial about opt-out organ donation.

Remember that cable company ploy when they wanted to start charging per channel and you had to let them know you didn’t want channels or you’d be automatically charged for them?

Or way back when you sent away for a record or book or whatever and the next month you were sent – and charged for – another one that you didn’t want because you either didn’t see, lost or forgot about that cancel card you didn’t send in?

There’s going to be trouble when someone is killed in an automobile accident and his organs taken without the relatives permission because the “no” was for whatever reason not returned.

A better way, I think, would be to include the to-return organ-donor card with the renewal application and, when people go in to renew their driver’s licence, hand them a card to sign, or not sign, right there.
