An open letter to the City of Surrey.

Do you have to clearcut every bit of treed green space left?

Don’t you realize the role that mature trees play? They provide much-needed shade, their deep roots retain water and stop soil erosion, they provide a living space for other species.

What’s left of them? Planting a few ‘ornamentals’ doesn’t cut it.

We used to be ‘City of Parks’ now we’re more like ‘City of High Density Housing and Strip Malls.’ Utter madness.

Joni Mitchell was right, they’ve paved paradise and put up a parking lot.
