Re: High court rejects vet-pension appeal, Aug. 31.

As an England-born Canadian citizen and ex-member of the U.K. military, I enjoy living in Canada.

This is due to the continuing sacrifices made by young men and women, in the past, present and future.

If we do not express our gratitude for their service, by supporting the veterans when they now need our help, who are we?

All the politicians should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this situation to exist in the first place. My vote will only go to the politician who salvages his or her conscience, and states that it will be in their manifesto.

Do not blame the judiciary; they do not make the laws, they only enforce them.
