The following is an open letter to Surrey mayor Doug McCallum:

So much for your bad-mouthing the RCMP for not being an integral part of the Surrey community.

Every time I open up the local Surrey newspapers, I read things like: RCMP deliver after (Surrey) food bank hit by thieves; Accused served time for 2011 hit-and-run death - a Surrey man caught again by the RCMP; RCMP’s Air 5 named for (Surrey) pilot who died in 2012; Laws of physics apply to everybody: RCMP; No mandate for police plan; Daon Glasgow charged in shooting at SkyTrain; Man, 26, (arrested by RCMP) and charged after store robbed four times in five weeks.

How much more of a dedicated police service can you have?

If you took the time to be involved more productively and positively with our dedicated RCMP force that Surrey loves, perhaps you would realize what a gem we have here.

I am proceeding with a private petition to “Keep the RCMP in Surrey” which is gaining momentum and signatures – the more people I engage with shows me that your actions regarding the replacement of the RCMP in Surrey have extremely little support.
