That letter really kept me up at night. The writer claims hunters are being targeted by the new proposed automatic firearm crack-down. But what kind of hunter needs a killing machine to target deer or ducks? Is that considered a sport? Usually, “sports” involve individuals or teams of fairly equal capability. Deer and ducks do not have killing machines at their disposal.
And that is what assault weapons are. They are designed, produced and used as killing machines, and meant for armies and law enforcement. So, the term “hunting” should be looking for things like Easter eggs and mushrooms. What is called “hunting” by the writer is simply “killing.”
