Re: Be courteous on promenade, April 15 letters

The writer brings up an important point, as it’s also been a pet peeve of mine for the last 25 years, but the title could be shortened to just read “Be courteous,” as so many seem blind to much of what’s going on around them. Either that or they just don’t care. Some examples that come to mind:

• Not having your wallet or money out when you finally get to the front of the line, or worse, wasting another five minutes while you dig to the bottom of your purse trying to pay with exact change;

• Checking your receipts line-by-line, or taking extra time to organize the receipts in your wallet after finishing at a check-out or bank machine;

• Not ready to place a take-out order (or even having given it a thought) until you get to the order window, after standing in line for 10 minutes;

• Taking forever to make a right turn while blocking the entire road (at least pull over to allow others to go by);

• Driving too slow in the left lane, usually next to another slow driver. When traffic is backing up behind you, or cars are passing you on the right, it’s time to move over.

So, there. I actually think I feel better now. In the words of comedian Jim Jefferies, “We can all do better.”
