Re: Bus users balk at park-and-ride fees, Sept. 20.
TransLink has done the right thing to charge a fee for the use of parking at park-and-ride, on two counts:
• It will free up some parking for passengers who truly need them.
• The fee will mean users of the facility will not be subsidized by passengers who don’t use it.
However, in the future, when there wouldn’t be any shortage of parking lots, TransLink may have to review the rate to make it more equitable such that the profit margin on the fee would be in line with the passenger fees.
