Kent Street Activity Centre 2025 memberships are on sale now. This membership is in effect until Dec. 31, 2025. Memberships can be purchased at the Kent Street Activity Centre, White Rock Community Centre and Centennial Park Leisure Centre and online at whiterockcity.ca/register. If you purchase online and are a new member, remember to drop into any of our recreation centres to pick up a new membership card. A 2025 membership is only $43 and gives you an opportunity to participate in 17 different activity groups, receive member pricing for all Kent Street Activity Centre special events and receive $5 off any day excursion.
• The Kent Street Activity Centre’s snooker room is one of the busiest in the centre. We welcome snooker players of all levels to join in on a friendly game or two. The snooker room boasts four tables and is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday nights 6 to 9 p.m., plus Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ladies snooker is very popular at the centre, and the ladies are always looking for new members to join them for some fun games. Call 604-541-2231 for more information and pick up a guest pass at the front office to try out snooker or one of many other activity groups at the centre three times before becoming a Kent Street Activity Centre member.
• Join Cathy Donn Herrera, a registered holistic nutritionist and fitness expert, for the Healthy Lifestyle Series. These interactive workshops will teach you effective strategies that you can implement today for a healthier and more active lifestyle. • If you enjoy card games, drop down to Kent Street Activity Centre and join in on the fun with some games of Cribbage, Canasta and Rummy on Thursdays from 1 to 3:15 p.m. Call 604-541-2199 for more information. Remember that you can try out the centre’s many activity groups three times before purchasing a Kent Street Activity Centre membership.
• Whether you want to take better and more creative photos with a phone or with a DSLR or mirrorless camera, this Introduction to Photography program is just for you. Principles of composition will be explored each class along with how different types of photography – landscape, portrait, sports and wildlife — all demand different techniques and gear. This six-week program begins on Feb. 5, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kent Street Activity Centre. Call 604-541-2199 to register or sign up online at whiterockcity.ca/register.
• The Kent Street Coffee Shop will be closing for a well-deserved break on Wednesday, Dec. 18. Be sure to come down before we close to pick up some fresh-baked goodies and frozen casseroles and soups. The coffee shop will reopen on Jan. 6.
• Spend a fun night out at the Kent Street Activity Centre enjoying the great tunes of the Alpiners on Dec. 11. The last Wednesday dance of the year is on Dec. 18 and features Sweet Water. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with dancing from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Cost is only $7 for Kent Street Activity Centre members and $9 for non-members. Call 604-541-2199 for more information.
