The Rotary Club of White Rock, the oldest Rotary club on the Peninsula, wishes to thank all the wonderful supporters who made our recent 30th Annual Mega Book Sale such a great success.

The sale was held at Semiahmoo Shopping Centre in South Surrey and brought hundreds of book lovers to browse and buy. Close to $40,000 was raised.

The ongoing co-operation of the shopping centre, its retail merchants, service providers and the public has helped the Rotary Club of White Rock raise $1 million over the years for charitable purposes.

This money has assisted local organizations in providing services to the old, the young and the challenged. It has also contributed to many worthwhile international initiatives including Polio Plus – a program that has been hugely successful in the eradication of polio around the world – and relief for Haiti following its devastating earthquake two years ago.

Closer to home, the Rotary Club of White Rock committed to raise $250,000 as a contribution to the Peninsula’s Centre for Active Living. This visionary health centre is now providing state-of-the-art medical and health services to local residents and the Rotary Club of White Rock’s final portion of our monetary commitment will be fulfilled this year.

Thank you once again to all our community supporters for allowing us to play an important role in the growth and well-being of the Peninsula’s residents.
