Re: Coal key to railway profits, July 25.

I disagree with columnist Frank Bucholtz’s statement “thus far there is little direct evidence of coal dust along the rail line causing health problems.”

I and many other living in communities along the rail lines have had respiratory problems with the increase of trains carrying powdered thermal coal.

A group of over 200 Whatcom County physicians – who were represented by Dr. Frank James from Bellingham, Wash. at a meeting at First United Church in White Rock last week on the health impacts of thermal coal – would also disagree with you.
