Visible faces of politics

High profiles of the mayors of White Rock and Surrey has not gone unnoticed.

Editor:

I am surprised by Mayor Wayne Baldwin’s performance as mayor of White Rock for the last few months.

I feel he is an amazing politician, and it seems he knows how to play the game. The mayor must be a superman, having so much energy posing for pictures in the paper week after week. I just don’t know how the mayor finds time to do his job.

I am told the mayor even has his picture on the back of a bus. Will we have the pleasure of seeing the mayor’s picture anywhere else?

Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts has been in the newsprint frequently over the past week as she made her state-of-the-city address – something is up.

A cynic will speculate that our mayor is preparing herself to take a run at the BC Liberal leadership or, dare I say, the BC Conservative leadership. The mugshots and headlines are ever present as she addresses issues like local transit and education as priorities for Surrey. These are foremost major provincial jurisdictional issues.

The mayor’s “linking communities” theme in her address offered another opportunity to showcase her profile not only to her Surrey constituents but to the entire province.
