The Abbotsford Canucks have signed forward Marc Gatcomb to a one-year extension.

The 23-year-old Massachusetts product recorded eight points (three goals and five assists) in 45 games for the Canucks this season and added one goal in six playoff games.

Two of Gatcomb’s three goals were notable, as he scored one first goal and one insurance goal.

“Marc was one of our most improved players this year from start to finish,” stated Abbotsford Canucks general manager Ryan Johnson. “He is a big body that can skate and be a presence in every game. He’s a great pro and we are excited to keep working with him next season.”

The 6-2, 194 pound rookie right winger ranked third in Abbotsford rookies in games played and penalty minutes (24). Earlier this season he played six games with the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings and collected four points.

Gatcomb also made six appearances for the Canucks in the 2021-22. The undrafted player spent four NCAA seasons with the University of Connecticut Huskies before signing a one-year AHL contract for the 2022-23 season with Abbotsford on April 2, 2022. He previously served as an assistant captain at Connecticut.
