Adam Hadwin set to make cut at U.S. Open

Two-over second round has Abbotsford golfer within a handful of shots from the lead

Abbotsford golfer Adam Hadwin looks almost certain to make the cut at the U.S. Open.

After a spectacular opening day that saw him tie a record with six straight birdies, Hadwin had a more difficult Friday, but still did more than enough to guarantee that he will be playing over the weekend.

Hadwin shot a round of two-over par Friday to drop him to -2 for the tournament. That score had him six strokes back of the lead and in 21st spot as of 1 p.m. With the cut projected to be around +1, Hadwin is in good shape to make the cut.

The U.S. Open is one of four major tournaments on the professional golf schedule and, as such, is among the most prestigious events in the sport.

Hadwin, who grew up playing at Ledgeview Golf Course, has been enjoying his best year as a pro. He won his first PGA tournament earlier in the year, and made the cut at the Masters the following month.
