Not even a torrential downpour could douse the red-hot Bayside Sharks women’s team Saturday in South Surrey, as the first-place club defeated visiting Meralomas 37-5 to run their undefeated record to 5-0.
The Sharks, who’ve outscored opponents by 177 points through five contests, are the only undefeated team in the Lower Mainland Tier 1 Women’s league, and sit four points up on second-place Burnaby Lake.
Bayside’s men’s rugby sides were not as lucky against Meralomas Saturday, as both the Shark’s premier and first-division squads lost on home turf.
In first-division action, Bayside lost 22-12, and the premiers followed with a 27-5 defeat.
With the loss, Bayside’s top men’s team fell to 2-4 on the season, and sit fifth in CDI Premier League standings. The first-division Sharks are also 2-4, and in fifth place in the Ceili’s Cup League.
