It's all fun and foreign diplomacy at the 2014 Canadian Open.

The Fastpitch International Championship has returned to Softball City and sunny South Surrey, B.C. this week and, on Tuesday, the Vancouver Wildcats '97 team took on a youth team from New Zealand.

The Kiwis got the better of the Wildcats, winning 8-0 in seven innings, but the girls from both teams said they're having a great week.

"I think, for me, my favourite part is just getting to play new teams and just getting to improve our game," said Paige Kempo, a player for Vancouver. "We get to play a lot of strong teams here, so we get to improve a lot.

"This season's been amazing."
