The Abbotsford Cardinals got the best of the White Rock Tritons on Thursday night, then the rain stopped the local B.C. Premier Baseball League (PBL) team on Sunday.

The Cards topped the Tritons 10-6 at South Surrey Athletic Park, before rain postponed a scheduled double header between White Rock and the North Shore Twins in North Vancouver.

Against the Carindals, Liam Rihela and James Pavelick each went two-for-four at the plate for the Tritons, with Rihela and Thomas Vincent each collecting a pair of RBIs.

The Cards scored five times in the top of the second inning,

and never looked back. White Rock twice pulled to within a run, but couldn't pull ahead.

Down 5-0 and coming to the plate in the bottom of the second, the Tritons scored twice on a bases-loaded walk to Aaron Wiegert that scored Jason Will, and a single from Rihela to drive in Juan Paez.

Abbotsford upped their lead to 6-2 in the third inning, but the Tritons continued to chip away. Vincent hits a two-run single then scored on a sacrifice fly from Hill to cut the difference to 6-5.

The Cardinals added one in the fifth, and White Rock responded with another run from Paez when Rihela hit into a fielder's choice.

Abbotsford put the game out of reach with three runs in the seventh before retiring three consecutive Tritons batters to end the game.

In 10th place in the 13-team PBL with a 5-9 (won-lost) record, the Tritons will visit the 2-7 Whalley Chiefs Thursday night at 7 p.m.
