Sixteen-year-old phenom Jocelyn Cater, who at 16 is the youngest player to ever play for Canada's national women's fastpitch team, will start her first game of the Scotiabank Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship tonight against Australia.

The Delta native, and member of the White Rock Renegades, made her first appearance in the pitcher's circle on Sunday, when she pitched the final two innings against Australia – striking out three while allowing no hits.

Cater was credited with the win in that game, as Canada scored late to capture a 2-0 victory.

"Jocelyn Cater is one of the youngest players to ever dress for the Women’s National Team,” says Greg Timm, chairman of the Canadian Open Fastpitch Society. “We are looking forward to watching Jocelyn start her first game with Team Canada here in Surrey, in front of her hometown crowd.”
