Goalie earns weekly award

Andrew Hammond was named Central Collegiate Hockey Association’s goaltender of the week

White Rock goaltender Andrew Hammond, who plays for the Bowling Green State University Falcons, was named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association’s goaltender of the week last week.

Hammond, a BCHL alum who played for the Surrey Eagles and Vernon Vipers, had a shutout and a .980 save-percentage in a pair of victories over the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

Hammond is in his junior year at BGSU. He spent his first two years in the BCHL with his hometown Eagles, before being dealt to Vernon, where he led the Vipers to back-to-back Royal Bank Cup national titles.
