Free internship program teaches youth about sports broadcasting, production for Legion youth track and field championships in Langley

Ever wanted to be a sports broadcaster? Or perhaps work behind the scenes in the production, filming, editing, distribution, directing, telecasting and interviewing athletes and teams?

Then the Young Olympians are looking for you.

The Young Olympians, in partnership with Shaw TV and JoyTV 10 are looking for interested candidates between the ages of 14 and 24 who have an interest in live even sports production, reporting, broadcasting and social media.

The chosen candidates will be trained ahead of the Canadian Legion youth track and field championships, which will be held at Langley's McLeod Athletic Park from Aug. 15 to Aug. 17.

Those chosen will be trained to develop scripts for interviewing and reporting, use professional TV cameras, editing and broadcast equipment, film live action, interview athletes for TV features and produce finished feature shorts to be used during the broadcast schedule.

The mentorship workshops and equipment training will be conducted in Langley. There is no cost but each person must provide their own transportation and attend all of the classes.

During the Games, transportation to the events will be provided, as will meals.
