Hockey players fundraising for cancer research

Semiahmoo Midget A1 Ravens to hold 50/50 draw on Saturday

Members of the Semiahmoo Midget A1 Ravens will be sporting a new look after Friday.

The hockey team is set to shave their heads in honour of their assistant coach's wife, who recently underwent chemotherapy for breast cancer.

"Our assistant coach shaved his head after she began losing her hair, and we were inspired by what he sacrificed for her. For us, it wasn't really a choice. We support our family and team and want to come together and show our support," said Connor Wong, the team's spokesperson.

Along with the hair cuts, the team will be holding a 50/50 draw at their game against Port Coquitlam on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. at South Surrey Arena. Half of the proceeds will be given to the winner of the draw with the remainder donated to cancer research.
