The Earl Marriott Mariners will kick off its football season tomorrow (Friday) with an afternoon doubleheader at the school’s revamped football field.

At 1 p.m., the Mariners junior varsity squad will battle Abbotsford’s Rick Hansen Hurricanes – EMS head coach Michael Mackay-Dunn’s former team – and the two sqauds’ varsity teams will hit the field at 3 p.m.

For the past two seasons, Mariners’ football teams have played on the road – or at other South Surrey fields – as the school’s field underwent renovations to make the field regulation size. Bleachers and a scoreboard were also added.
