The City of Abbotsford’s $1.38 million investment into upgrades at the Abbotsford Centre was partially revealed on Wednesday (Sept. 27) evening.
An Abbotsford Canucks season ticket members event at the AC invited fans to take in the new set-up, which includes a brand new video board.
The new screen is significantly larger than the previous one, which had been in place since the building opened in 2009.

The new videoboard was part of a proposed $1.5 million upgrade package that was proposed earlier this year. As per the City’s contract with the Canucks, all upgrades to the AC will be paid for by the City.

The contract was awarded to TLD Computer, a division of London Drugs Limited, and came in under budget in the amount of $1.38 million.
In addition to the centre-hung video board and ribbon boards, a new 50/50 display, a videowall processor, a control system and new media server will be installed.

That work occurred during the Abbotsford Canucks off season and the majority of the installation was completed by Aug. 31. The last event with the old set-up was a Volbeat concert on July 22.
The next event at the AC will be an NHL preseason game, which features the Vancouver Canucks taking on the Seattle Kraken on Oct. 4. Other upcoming events include Godsmack (Oct. 10), ZZ Top (Oct. 14) and comedian Bert Kreischer (Oct. 19).
The Abbotsford Canucks home opener will see the team host the Calgary Wranglers on Oct. 20.
The Vancouver Canucks also installed a new video board this off season, which is four times larger than the previous one at Rogers Arena.
