A Newton-based organization that aims to refurbish old bikes and donate them to youth in need is seeking help from those who are mechanically inclined.

REC for Kids – which has been operating since 2007, and was started by members of local Rotary clubs – is looking for volunteers who can help repair and refurbish the organization’s collection of donated bikes.

The organization, which operates out of a City of Surrey-owned house near Unwin Park, collects, fixes and donates hundreds of bikes each year, mostly to in-need recipients who have been referred by schools, RCMP and social-service groups.

Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the organization through its official website, www.recforkids.com, or by calling 604-598-0322.
