Semiahmoo Storm strike gold in Arizona

The U16 girls squad went 4-0 en route to a title at the Blackhawk Invitational tournament in Scottsdale.

The Semiahmoo U16 Storm returned victorious from Arizona this week, after going undefeated en route to the gold medal at the Blackhawk Invitational tournament in Scottsdale.

The U16 girls squad went 4-0 in the event, getting goals throughout the tournament from Victoria Singh, Meg Farmer and Nikki Lacis, while Serena Bonneville, Sydney Macewan and Emma Ferris, who had six assists, also helped pace the Storm’s offensive attack.

Head coach Tim Ferris said the team’s defensive success was a result of “a total team effort” and he singled out Leigh Averill and Coco Mullen for their defensive efforts.

Goalkeeper Hannah Jiwani recorded three shutouts in the four games.
