A South Surrey boxer took home the provincial title in his weight class last weekend.
Josh Wright was named the B.C. junior middle-weight champion at the title fight sanctioned by the British Columbia Combative Sports Association and held at Sunplex Sports Arena in Kelowna on June 22.
The No. 1 contender, who has a Golden Gloves boxing title to his credit, nabbed the title from reigning B.C. champ Shawn MacDonald of Langley.
On hand for the provincial win was Wright’s longtime coach, Stephen Lapre, who owns South Surrey’s Dragon’s Den Elite MMA and Fitness, where Wright trains.
