A pair of South Surrey rugby players have made the cut for Team Canada’s U19 rugby team.
Late last month, the Earl Marriott Secondary – and Bayside Rugby Club – stars John Jubenville and Michael Smith were named to the team that kicked off a two-game series against the United States Friday afternoon.
On Dec. 30 in Chula Vista, Calif., Canada won the opening match, 29-22,
“The boys showed great composure and managed the game well to come away with a win,” said Canadian coach Dean Murten.
The American squad got the better of their Canadian rivals in a Jan. 2 rematch, winning 27-19.
