SURREY - Do you have a knack for names? You could participate in local history by suggesting a name – or three – for the newest schools slated to be built in the Surrey School District.

The Surrey Board of Education is inviting submissions from the public to help name one secondary and two elementary schools in the following locations:

  • 169th Street and 25th Avenue – Grandview Heights area secondary (Site 177)
  • 194th Street & 76th Avenue – Clayton North area elementary (Site 184)
  • 187th Street & 74th Avenue – Clayton Village North West area elementary (Site 218)

According to board policy, names should reflect the history or geography of the neighbourhood or community, with special consideration given to names that have significant meaning to students and members of the community.

Suggestions can be e-emailed to schoolnames@surreyschools.ca. The deadline for submissions is June 5.

Because there are multiple schools to be named, be sure to indicate the site number beside each suggestion.
