Photo show and tell

Essaquira
One of many photos of Morocco that will be presented at White Rock Library March 8 as part of World Culture Month.

White Rock Library will celebrate World Culture Month with a photo tour of Morocco presented by award-winning Black Press photographer John Gordon on Monday, March 28 (7 p.m.).

A winner of both provincial and national photography awards, Gordon, noted for his work with the Peace Arch News sister paper the Langley Times, will share a wealth of eye-catching shots from a recent trip to the North African nation.

Among the images will be scenes of the ancient treading city of Marrakesh, and the coast fishing port of Essaouira, with its Portuguese ramparts, crafts and unique street life.

Also featured will be highlights of a bus trip across the high Atlas Mountains to the desert city of Quarzazate.

A professional photographer since 1984, Gordon has worked with community newspapers on Vancouver Island and in the Lower Mainland.

He has been recognized with such honours as the Fuji Masterpiece award, two Kodak Gallery awards, a Nikon Digital Imaging award and 32 B.C. and Yukon News Association and Canadian Community News Association awards.

Registration is required for the presentation at the library, 15342 Buena Vista Ave.
