Grant Wilber Neal

December 21, 2002

At 3:00 a.m. December 21, 2002 at the age of 78, Grand Neal succumbed to complications from cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife Ellen, his four children; Garrick, Carla, Lorna, and Vivian and his grandchildren; Marcus, Rory and Emma, predeceased by his brother Ross Horton Neal. He was a successful Engineer and past president of the Hamilton, Ontario chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he graduated from the University of Manitoba, Grant moved to Hamilton and met Ellen. He worked for Westinghouse in Hamilton for all his career. Shortly after retirement, he and Ellen moved to White Rock, B.C., where he continued his interest in flying and experimental aircraft up to two years ago, when he was finally unable to fly. He was able to stay active up until two weeks before his death, and maintained his sense of humour to the very end.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Ward and the Peace Arch Hospital for their dedication, to Dr. Coppin at the Cancer Centre, and to Dr. Marilyn Fell for her support to the entire family.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 28th at 2:00 p.m. at Hazelmere United Church, on the corner of 16th Avenue and 184th Street in South Surrey, B.C.
