Marian Elizabeth (Root) Cowger

Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness in the Finlay Pavilion, Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock on February 17, 2003 at the age of 86. Survived by her loving husband Perry; sister Bernice (Bob) Smallpiece of Salmon Arm and brother Larry (Mary) of Invermere and many nieces and nephews. Marian was predeceased by sisters Ethel and Alice; brothers Stan, Ivan and Bill. Marian was born at Killdeer, Saskatchewan and completed her schooling in that district. She took her teacher's training in Moose Jaw and taught in rural schools in Southern Saskatchewan for five years. She then took secretarial training and worked in Regina for five years. She moved to Vancouver in 1947 and soon joined the staff of the Vancouver School District as a Kindergarten and junior grades teacher where she worked until retiring in 1982. Marian received her B.E. Degree from U.B.C. and also took training in Theology. She preached at the Mission in Vancouver as well as helping to serve meals. She was also active in radio broadcasting. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday February 24, 2003 in the Chapel of Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marian's memory may be made to the Mission Fund of Seaview Pentecostal Assembly, 14633 - 16 Ave., Surrey, B.C. V4A 1R4.
