PHYLLIS E. J. HOBBS

With deep sadness the family of Phyllis Eileen Joan Hobbs (nee Wilson) announces her death on July 7, 2007, in White Rock, B.C., following a short final battle with cancer. Phyllis was born the youngest in a large naval family on February 8th, 1919, and raised in the seaport of Gosport, England, where she met and married her one true love and soul partner, Arthur William (Jack) Hobbs in 1938. In 1947, she emigrated to Canada with Jack and their one year old daughter, Gillian Eve, and began a truly wonderful phase of her life in Nilestown and London, Ontario where their second daughter, Susan Kathleen, was born. As Jack and Phyl built their home together, brick by brick, they also forged many lasting friendships. In 1990, Phyl and Jack followed their daughters west and settled in Calgary, Alberta, where again they made many friends. Jack passed away in 1997 and in 2000 Phyl made a final move in her journey across Canada to live with her daughter and son-in-law in White Rock, BC. Here Phyllis returned to the pleasures of life by the beautiful sea, and made new friendships which she cherished. Phyllis will be always treasured as a most warm and caring mother, excellent teacher and close friend by daughters, Gillian Hobbs and Susan Dumont and son-in-law, Jim Dumont, all of White Rock/South Surrey. Daniel and Christina Wallace of Calgary, Alberta, and Francis Wallace of Regina, Saskatchewan, will remember their grandmother with great affection. Phyllis's special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews in England will miss her dearly. A private interment at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Surrey will reunite Phyllis and Jack always.
