The controversy over the release of details of the Epcor sale has sparked a lot of discussion among White Rock taxpayers.

The city, including taxpayers’ elected representatives, have gone to a fair amount of expense to keep the details of the sale secret (City, Metro want docs sealed, June 9). This has led some city residents to tell me that they suspect some sort of questionable activity.

I personally look back a few months to a time when the mayor did not think some attendees at a council meeting were treating the mayor and council with the respect they deserved by loudly questioning some of the council activities.

I think the function of mayor and council is to lead and make good decisions and management of the city. If that results in unpopular decisions, tough. If you want to be a leader, lead!

This reminds me of a time a few years back, when one of the councillors, now deceased, was lobbying for a new city hall, because among other things, our current one had no elevator. I suppose now that we would require a safe place so that the snowflakes on council would have a safe place where their feelings could not be hurt.

Is our council made up of leaders or snowflakes?

Get out in front and lead or get out of the way and resign.
