Re: Glaring Lights Disrupting Life, PAN letters March 7

I agree with Janet McIntosh. Is it really necessary to light up every facet of your house, trees, fence etc.? And don’t get me started on the new street lights!

Many species, including humans, need darkness to thrive and survive.

Science has shown that nighttime exposure to light suppresses the production of melatonin, which can disrupt sleep and cause health problems.

It can also interfere with the natural behaviours of wildlife and insects.

Municipalities and cities should not allow this light pollution to continue.
