For one day next month, South Surrey Arena will be filled with all manner of Hollywood idols – from Elvis Presley to Marilyn Monroe to Charlie Chaplin – when the White Rock South Surrey Skating Club hosts its annual carnival.

This year’s event, scheduled for Saturday, March 12, is dubbed “Heroes, Stars and Idols” and will feature tributes to a slew of well-known icons – John Lennon, Cab Calloway among them.

More than 170 local figure skaters – from the beginner to senior national level – will take part in the show, including B.C. senior ladies champion Devon Neuls and national novice pairs competitors Melissa Kustra and Paul Schatz, who’ve spent much of the last year training in Florida.

Tickets, $15 for adults and $10 for children and seniors, are available at the White Rock Leisure Services office in Centennial Arena (14600 North Bluff Rd.) or at South Surrey Arena (2199 148 St.).
