Oil awareness

Two ambassadors with the British Columbia Used Oil Management Association (BCUOMA) will be visiting Surrey and White Rock collection facilities today (Friday) to promote the responsible recycling of used oil materials.

The campaign has seen the summer ambassadors tour the province and encourage communities to keep these hazardous materials out of waterways and landfills.

Residents will also be introduced to the new antifreeze and antifreeze-container recycling program, which launches July 1.

The BCUOMA is a not-for-profit organization responsible for the implementation of a province-wide collection and recycling system for used oil, oil filters and used oil containers.
