The First United Church has begun offering a different kid of summer camp experience for local elementary-school aged children.
Beginning Monday, July 16, the First United Junior youth group program is modeled on the "Me to We" charity campaign that teaches young people how to help the less fortunate.
Open to children from Grades 2 to 7, participants will be connected with the lives of children their own ages in Africa.
Christian youth group teens, will lead stories, crafts and activities at this first VBS.
Speakers include young people who built a school in Africa.
For the past two years, the group has fund-raised for the needy with a sleepathon and collected food for the food bank with the Halloween for Hunger campaign.
In May, the children visited the White Rock/South Surrey food bank.
The summer camp program costs $45 and runs 10 a.m. to noon, Monday to Friday.
