Artists Walk coming to White Rock

Promenade to feature an outdoor gallery of paintings, prints, photos and more

With the arrival of spring will be an artistic addition to the White Rock Promenade.

The seaside city will be opening up its first-ever Artists Walk along the promenade on March 1, from White Rock Museum Plaza to West Beach.

People strolling along the stretch will be able to browse an outdoor gallery of paintings, prints, photography, sculpture and meet the artists.

According to a release from the city, artists will be encouraged to do on-site drawing or painting in a variety of mediums, as the intent of the Artists Walk is to exhibit and demonstrate the process of producing art.

"The Artist Walk is a small part of councils strategic priorities for the waterfront, which includes enhancing our seaside attractions," Mayor Wayne Baldwin said in the release. "This is an excellent opportunity to increase the exposure of art in our community and move towards the creation of arts as an economic generator."

The city is currently accepting applications for the Artists Walk annual permits.
