Here we are in the dog days of summer. The nights are cooling off and we have less daylight every day.

Normally, the Peace Arch Hospital Auxiliary would be busy meeting and planning for fall and winter events. Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas are simply the best times to get out into the community with our various fundraisers.

However, it seems we have entered the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has put us in a “one step forward… two steps back” situation.

In spite of this, we have come up with an event that we have never tried before. Although spearheaded by our Aquarius Group, this fundraiser involves members of all our groups working together.

We are holding a “Trunk Treasures Sale and Family Event” on Saturday, Sept. 25.

We will be in the parking lot of Peace Portal Alliance Church at the corner of 152 Avenue and King George Boulevard between 9 a.m and 2 p.m.

Items for sale will include designer and vintage clothing, household goods, jewelry, linens, crystal, games, crafts and much more.

We’ll have fun and entertainment for the whole family.

The young ones will enjoy Korki the Clown, having their faces painted and sporting some sparkling tattoos.

Bring your appetites as well, as we will have food trucks offering all sorts of delectable delights!

COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place, of course.

Come out and support this fun family event.

All proceeds will go towards patient care and comfort at Peace Arch Hospital.

Did you know that The Superfluity Shop, located at 15163 Prospect Ave., has extended its hours?

It is now open for business Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

We are always looking for donations of gently used adult clothing, fresh-looking Christmas decorations, home décor, linens, vintage china and any other items that you may have tired of but would be a treasured find to someone else.

Please call 604-536-7744 or email manager@supeshop.ca and arrange to drop off your donations.

They are much appreciated.

We are always looking for new volunteers. If you have some spare time on your hands, and would like to join our organization, contact Kathy McIntyre at kathymmcintyre@gmail.com
