Six teams of Beach Heroes took to White Rock’s shores last month as part of a beach cleanup organized to raise awareness about the amount of garbage on local beaches and its effects on ocean ecosystems.
Volunteers participating in the “Tidy Shores” event spread out from east to west beach collecting debris, amassing 12 larges bags of garbage as well as a beach umbrella, part of a fibreglass boat and countless sandals.
