After last month’s record setting windstorm, those who were caught off-guard and want to avoid a repeat can attend a preparedness workshop in February.
The City of Delta is hosting a neighbourhood emergency preparedness workshop where people can learn how to work together with their neighbours to better handle the first 72 hours of a calamitous event. The windstorm on Dec. 20 knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of British Columbians, many for days, leaving them without heat, hot water or a way to prepare meals.
The workshop will be held at Delta Community College and is comprised of six two-hour sessions starting Feb. 6 and ending March 13. The cost is $20 per person.
To register, go connect37.deltasd.bc.ca or call 604-940-5550 (course ID PC066). For more information on the city’s neighbourhood emergency preparedness program, visit delta.ca/services/public-safety/emergency-preparedness.
