White Rock fire officials are encouraging all residents, businesses and organizations to participate in The Great British Columbia Shakeout this week.
Set for 10:20 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 20), the ‘Drop, Cover and Hold On’ drill is intended as an opportunity for individuals to practise how to protect themselves from falling furniture and flying objects in the event of an earthquake.
Those planning to participate are encouraged to register at www.shakeoutbc.ca, where posters and flyers to assist with promoting the drill may be downloaded; sound effects and safety information that can be played during the drill is also available on the website.
So far, more than 420,000 have registered to participate.
