'Mind Master' Scott Christie prepares to hypnotized volunteers Nadine and Sarah at Sawbucks.

Hypnosis – with a strong dose of comedy – is the prescription for  Peace Arch Hospital Auxiliary Superfluity Store's fundraising blues.

The popular thrift store – stymied in raising funds for equipment and programs at the hospital due to a recent fire that forced temporary closure – will be the big beneficiary of 'Mind Master' Scott Christie's show this Saturday at 8 p.m., at Sawbucks Pub, 1626 152 St.

For a $25 ticket, supporters will receive a burger, a beer or wine, and a show that has been termed one of the funniest hypnosis acts currently working – in which audience members may see friends and family members as they've never seen them before.

Christie says the secret of his appeal is that audience participation is entirely voluntary.

"Traditional hypnosis shows in the past were humour at the expense of volunteers," he said in a promotional statement. "I highlight and accentuate the talents and creativity of people's subconscious minds."

Tickets (cash only) are available from Sawbucks, the South Surrey White Rock Chamber of Commerce, or by calling 604-785-8357.
